History of DIET, Nuapada

Nuapada district is one among 30 districts of Odisha state. It is a town located in western region of Odisha state and the distance is 440 kilometers east towards state capital Bhubaneswar. It is the administrative headquarter of Nuapada district. Earlier the district was a part of Kalahandi district until early march 1993 but for administrative convenience, Kalahandi district was again divided into two parts namely Kalahandi and Nuapada. Nuapada district now comprises five tehsils , Nuapada, Komna, Khariar,Sinapali and Boden and five community development blocks (Nuapada, Komna, Khariar, Sinapali and Boden).

District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), is a teacher training institution located in the headquarter of town Nuapada offering D. El. Ed course to prepare elementary teacher for the district as well as for the state. Earlier the institute was a S. T. School imparting 50 number of students. After it was named as District Resource Centre (DRC) in the year 2009 and present it is running as District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) since 2014 having 200 numbers of students of both 1st and 2nd year and working as training nodal centre of the district.
As a nodal institution for improving the quality of elementary education in the district now it is working in five important key areas namely i. Pre-Service Teacher Education (PSTE,) ii. Teacher Professional Development (TPD), iii. Educational Technology and Material Development (ET & MD), iv. Assessment and Evaluation and v. Field Interaction and Action Research.

To provide academic and resource support to the Elementary Educational sectors for the continuous quality improvement.
This is an institute that captures the multi-faceted personality of the elementary education visionaries. The institute performs a wide range of academic activities with the idea of development of a complete personality, self-discipline, spirit of co-operation, innovative ideas, scientific temper and missionary zeal which are the necessary part of studies.

  • To organize and support teacher professional development and leadership development programs for Head Masters, senior teachers and School Management Committees on a continued basis
  • To develop district academic plans and monitoring the quality of schools and teaching.
  • To prepare relevant teaching learning materials and Educational Technology inputs to the Schools.
  • To develop curriculum materials and evaluation items for the learners achievement.
  • Improving pedagogy and making classroom learning interesting.
  • Developing Curriculum and Academic Material such as child-friendly textbooks.
  • Planning and Management of elementary, adult education and non-formal education of the district.
